Aegea Resort complex occupies the delta of the local river, which receives water from the mountains of North Andros and sustains a unique biotope. The orientation of the land protects Aegea from North winds and offers a very pleasant microclimate. The area was recently characterized by the Hellenic Republic as oneof “extreme natural beauty and strict preservation”. Last year AegeaZorgosbeach, with its turquoise crystal waters and expansive sandy beach, was voted one of the top 4 best beaches in Greece.
Villa Aegean is a magnificent building of 400 m2 that is built on several levels to maximize the view of the Aegean Sea. The building embraces the land rising up from the sea front and extends over the ridge to look into the river basin. It has 2 large living rooms and can accommodate 8 persons in 4 bedrooms served by 3 bathrooms. Gardens of 4000 m2 are landscaped and planted and accommodate some 300m2 of stone-paved balconies and verandas.
Aegean Villa is fully furnished with carefully selected furniture, household items and objects of art by acknowledged artisans making it one of the most beautiful living spaces in Andros. It has a large, fully equipped kitchen that is adequate for supporting small private events.
Several activities are possible from Zorgos bay. Many interesting hiking trails begin within short distance of Aegea. A path of approximately 2 Km by the river leads to a natural river basin, a unique biotope of great beauty, where, according to tradition, the goddess Aphrodite took her bath. Another one, of approximately 2.5 Km, passes along the upper ridge of the hill, leading through a long cave of about 60 m to two large holes opening on the sheer cliff-face 30 m above the sea (40 min). Close to the end of this path is a turning towards a proto-Cycladic settlement and the isolated sandy beach of Microgiali(60 minutes each way). A shady riverside pathway of about 1.5 Km under a canopy of chestnut trees takes to a village of 14 deserted water-mills from the last century.
Sea excursions: At about half-mile along the coast from Aegea beach is a large sea cave that can be entered by boat. Navigating South for about a mile from the sea cave one comes upon a small opening which leads into Porto Koundouros, a protected natural port, between the rocks with the remains of an ancient settlement. Navigating North for about a mile from Aegea beach one comes across the Microgiali bay with its breathtakingly beautiful sandy beach. About 1.5 miles out to sea lies a reef of 2 Km long gathering multitudes of fish that can be caught even without bait.
During the summer daily sight-seeing excursions of the island of Andros are organized as well as night time clubbing in the main towns of Andros and Batsi.
