The residence dates from the Middle Age and its main building served as a defence tower at the edge of the village during the venetian occupation. Over the centuries, it was extended twice to become a captain's house, damaged by the 1956 earthquake. Ariane was restored under the supervision of the Greek Ministry of Culture, valuing the ancient building's mastership and the strict use of natural materials: volcano stones, lime, pumice and Santorini’s unique volcanic red pori stone. The antique objects, rare furniture and paintings of the Villa open windows into the island's history, valuing authenticity and offering a cultural immersion.
Villa Ariane has a magnificent view over the whole Santorini and its volcano, it is situated in a very famous sunset spot under the Mediaeval Venetian castle (Castelli). Ariane is situated 3 minutes on foot up the hill from a street with parking.
Villa Ariane features two levels as two independent apartments, to be rented as an entire villa or separately. It can welcome 10 guests (5 double beds) with the possibility to sleep up to 12 guests (sofa bed on each floor). The ground floor is composed of one master bedroom with double bed, two mezzanines with double beds, a full equipped kitchen including a traditional oven, a bathroom with WC and shower, a WC in the patio to preserve the original traditional architecture, a fireplace and a cave pool with jacuzzi corner. The first floor is composed of one double room, one mezzanine with double bed, a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom/WC with bath and shower, as well as an outdoor jacuzzi.
